The iPad 7 is still jailbreakable under iPadOS 18.3.1

The latest iPadOS 18.3.1 update remains jailbreakable on the 7th generation iPad using the palera1n tool, again thanks to the checkm8 hardware flaw. This exploit works on devices with A11 chips or older, the arm64 architecture, but not on newer arm64e devices with A12 chips or later. The 7th generation iPad is particularly interesting because it is the only iPad model still supported for jailbreaking under iPadOS 18.

iPad (6th generation) hacked to run iPadOS 18 :

Aaron, on the /r/jailbreak Discord, confirmed that this compatibility extends to iPadOS 18.3.1. Owners of this specific iPad model can safely update and still jailbreak, while those with newer iPads should stick to the lowest possible firmware if they are interested in future jailbreaks. For older iPads not compatible with iPadOS 18.3.1, iPadOS 17.7.5 is still jailbreakable with palera1n.

This update was primarily aimed at fixing a security vulnerability that could disable USB Restricted Mode on locked devices, rather than introducing any new features.

As we previously reported, the 7th-generation iPad is not expected to receive iPadOS 19, suggesting that iPadOS 18 may be the last version palera1n supports for this device. We’re still waiting for an exploit for recent devices running iOS 18, either from palera1n or Dopamine.
